A Taste of Your Own Medicine
The "Tell Me a Story” sermon series about the parables of Jesus continued by looking at how we will be forgiven in the same measure in which we forgive. The willingness to forgive and the heart wrenching work it requires is a reflection of our understanding of our relationship to Christ, “The Pearl of Great Price.” The only reason a person will not forgive is because of a skewed pride and belief of being better than someone else, deserving something better. When we wrestle with the reality of the magnitude of our sin, the dark and ugly truth which nailed Jesus to the cross, we also wrestle with the unbelievable and undeserved grace God shed on us through Jesus on the cross. When we refuse or deflect forgiving others, we only demonstrate our view that our sin was not grievous or we did not need such forgiveness from God. We minimize God and exalt our self. No person can deserve forgiveness. Do you need forgiveness? Are ready to give forgiveness?
