BK’S KORNER
Once in a cafeteria, at Seminary during lunch there was a beautiful basket of apples. They were red and juicy. There was sign placed on them that read, “Please only take one … God is watching.” The students went thru the line and at the other end were some cookies. It was a large box of broken cookies. They had scrawled note on them that said, “Take as many as you want … God is watching the apples.”

You know why I love the book of Acts so much? Because it is so real. No one would make up the story about John Mark. I guess there are so many miracles in there that they had to put some other stuff in there. More appropriately God was watching over them. You can see His sovereignty in everything that they did. Going up to Jerusalem to ask the church if a person had to become a Jew first. Sharing what they knew, then just waiting. Waiting on Peter. Then waiting on James. Then Finally a decision.

Even Mark. He went from being of no use to Paul. To the point where Paul had to break ties with Barnabas. To being “useful in ministry.” God was watching Mark. God was watching the Jerusalem Council. God is watching me and you. God cares about what is going on in our lives.

There is some comfort in the sovereignty of God. So next time you are feeling all alone, remember, God is watching the apples …. And the cookies… and you and me.
