ATTITUDE OF PRAYER…HEART TURNED TOWARD GOD
ATTITUDE OF PRAYER…HEART TURNED TOWARD GOD
I sit on my living room couch when I pray. I pray from time to time throughout the day, but I usually start my day on the couch praying. Most of the time, I pray out loud.
Sometimes I find myself walking up and down the floor, sometimes hands in the air. I use my hands when I talk to other people, and I use my hands when I talk to the Lord. Sometimes I bow my head, but a lot of times my head is lifted talking to the Lord.
Is it ok how I pray? I started looking at the Scripture.
I pray with boldness.
Hebrews 4:16 “Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace to help us in time of need.”
David prayed boldly, Psalm 55:1 “Give ear to my prayer, O God, and hide not yourself from my pleas for mercy! Attend to me, and answer me;”
I pray with honesty. Have you ever felt like you wanted to disappear? I will be transparent and admit that I think that way, that I want to disappear.
David again, Psalm 55:4-23 “My heart is in anguish within me . . .fear and trembling come upon me . . .and I say, Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest; yes, I would wander far away…”
I thought wanting to disappear was a new concept that I had made up in my mind. I guess if we think like this, we are in pretty good company.
And sometimes, I can’t think of how to pray for certain situations. I think we get overwhelmed with worry or grief and just don’t want to say the wrong thing.
Romans 8:26-27 “But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will”.
Thank you God for your Word. It answers every question we have.
For His Glory,
Debbie
