GOD HELPS THOSE WHO HELP THEMSELVES?
   
This is not in the Bible, yet we hear this quote all the time.  It’s not a bad statement.  It’s not a negative statement.  

Through the years I have been a part of the music program in the Baptist churches I attended.  I always enjoyed when the director would arrange for us to do the musical/dramas.  I’ve been so blessed to be part of this for many years.

So, when I became a music director myself, I naturally planned and presented these musicals.  For me, it’s just part of it.  It’s a great tool to spread the gospel.

It’s always the same.  God leads us to the musical He wants us to present.  We begin looking for choir members, cast members and all the many people it takes to put this thing together.

It is a lot of work, and it always seems that it is just impossible to make it happen.  There will be a point where I ask myself, “What in the world are you doing?’  

Then the night arrives, and the lights come on and it just all falls into place.  We find that everything we have worked on is enhanced by the glory of God.  He blesses it.  He knows our hearts and He honors the desires of our hearts for this presentation to be everything He wants it to be, in an attempt to touch a heart for Jesus.

After our presentation, there is so much joy seeing our efforts come to life and things fall into place.  It’s the hand of God.

So, I guess in a way the quote “God helps those who help themselves” is not far off from the scriptures.  

Proverbs 16:3 “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans”.  
God is always in the decision I make when choosing a musical.  I know this because He has said no before.  And in my stubbornness, He had to say no twice.  Yes, I tried two different times to do a certain musical, at two different churches.  It never happened.

I came through that so thankful that God answers.  Even if it is no.  It made me very aware of the voice of God and how to hear it.

In whatever I endeavor to do, I’m learning to keep my heart turned toward God and my spiritual eyes open to what God wants to show me.  

It’s all about Him!!
