JESUS STRENGTHENS OUR FAITH

JESUS STRENGTHENS OUR FAITH………
Our Sunday school lesson this past Sunday made me think about my faith or lack of faith at times.

Our lesson was taken from Mark 9 where Jesus and some of the disciples encountered a crowd of people and someone from the crowd said that he had brought his son, who was demon possessed to the disciples for healing, but theycouldn’t.  Jesus was amazed at this and the unbelief of the disciples as He had sent them out for the reason of driving out demons.  When they had returned, they told Jesus that they had been successful, but, with this young man, they had failed because their faith grew weak.

Unbelief was all around Jesus that day.  The disciples couldn’t drive out the demon and the father of the boy showed a lack of faith in Jesus to be able to heal his son when he said to Jesus, “if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”

Again, my mind goes to the things in life that I have been praying for.  We all have friends or family who we want to see saved.  We want to see relationships restored.  We want to have a closer relationship with God and be able to shine a light out there to a dying world.

One of the things heavy on my heart is some broken relationships in the family.  I have seen some evidence of healing, only then to just turn around and have something happen that seemingly puts another “nail in the coffin” as far as those relationships go.  Again, the doubts come.

Jesus said in Mark 9:9….” You unbelieving generation, how long will I be with you?  How long must I put up with you?”
Jesus feels the same about us when we lose our faith and start doubting.  He stood right there in the flesh with the disciples and with the father of the boy and they still lost faith.  We don’t see Jesus face to face, but those of us who believe anyway are blessed. John 20:29 “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe”.

The lesson pointed out that past spiritual experiences don’t replace the need for us to continually learn new lessons about what it means to walk in faith.

I don’t know what’s going to happen with all the prayers I have prayed.  I just know that I can’t stop praying.  I may not know what the answers will be, but I do know the God of the Universe and I know He loves me, and He knows every single thought in my head before I even think it.  I can’t imagine not talking to Him about it all.  He is the beginning and the end.
I must hang onto the Scripture in Psalm 37:4 “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”

We must hang on to our faith, walk each day in it and entrust ourselves and everyone we love into the hands of God Almighty.

Oh Lord, how I delight in You and Your grace and mercies that are new every morning.

It’s all for His glory,
Debbie
