MAY ALL WHO COME BEHIND US FIND US FAITHFUL
MAY ALL WHO COME BEHIND US FIND US FAITHFUL . . .
“May the fire of our devotion light their way
May the footprints that we leave lead them to believe
And the lives we live inspire them to obey”
Our Pastor quoted this chorus during his sermon this past Sunday. It’s been on my mind ever since.
Do you ever think about the people who are watching you? Not just our children or grandchildren, but the people we are in contact with daily. Our co-workers, acquaintances or the clerks at the grocery stores we frequent. I wonder what they see in me and what example I am setting.
I used to be the kind of person that worried if I was liked, but I’ve moved way past that. I want to be someone that shows the love of Jesus. It can only take a gesture sometimes.
I was at my daughters last week and we had a birthday party for their youngest. They invited a couple of families from their church and I was so happy to meet them. It was obvious they loved my kids just by the joy they exuded when they entered the house. They were very happy to be there, the adults and the children.
I won’t soon forget when my son-in-law was preparing to bless the food, I saw one of the little boys walk up between my two grandsons and take their hands in his. The father of that young man walked up and placed his hand on his son’s shoulder and the pride for his son shown in his face. This spoke volumes and it gave me such hope in the generation they call the “millennials”.
“Surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses
Let us run the race not only for the prize
But as those who’ve gone before us
Let us leave to those behind us
The heritage of faithfulness passed on thru godly lives”.
For His Glory,
Debbie
