WE’LL WORK TIL JESUS COMES
WE’LL WORK TIL JESUS COMES . . .
I have had conversations over the past 10 years or so with friends or family members, who are Christians, and we were asking the question “What are we supposed to be doing?” We all went to church, sang the songs, listened to the preacher, attended Bible study, even talked about the Lord and His goodness with each other. We knew it wasn’t enough.
We’ve always quoted that verse, that great commission, “Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15. So we already knew the answer to our question.
I think it just seemed such a huge task to us. Of course, we learned that the world for us usually means our neighborhoods. Not many will actually travel the world to spread the gospel.
We have heard preachers say that we need to go outside our walls and tell others about Jesus. But, my experience has been that nothing changed.
My thoughts recently have been that we have a Pastor who is preaching that we are to go out. But, not just preaching it but making plans to share with us and show us a way. First, we have to make sure we are disciples ourselves. Also, we are being shown that it’s important for us to get to know each other better and truly become one body at FBCBC.
I am excited for First Baptist Bridge City and the fact that God is using us already in many ways to reach out into the community. They know we are a giving church and that this is the hands and feet of Jesus.
But, we still have a lot of work to do. We need to make sure that they know Jesus and His love. That they know He came to earth, lived and died, and rose again and that there is a way for them to receive forgiveness of their sins and be saved.
We need to listen up:
“For greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done
In this city.”
It’s all for His glory,
Debbie
