BK’S KORNER
My house is almost 50 years old. It has endured many droughts and wet seasons through the years. There have also been large pine trees near my house over those 50 years. I say all of that to say that the roots from trees that grow underneath the slab and all the shifting from the dry and wet through the years has taken a toll on the slab foundation of my house. I now have a room where there is a crack in the sheetrock from the corner of a window down to the floor. I am certain the foundation has shifted and caused this break in the sheetrock.

The foundation is critical to the house. I know if I don’t get it fixed, soon doors and windows will not open and close smoothly. If left unchecked it could be disastrous. Are you familiar with parable Jesus told in Matthew 7:24-27?  The parable declares that the foundation of our lives is as important to us as the foundation of a house.  If we don’t have the foundation correct, then it could lead to devastating consequences.   Jesus says that the house that is not on a solid and secure foundation will fall when the storms of life bombard it.

He goes on to tell us how to build the solid foundation. He says that the solid foundation is built by hearing His Words and then by “doing” them. In fact, as Luke records the telling of this parable in Luke 6:46, he says that Jesus began by asking why do you call me Lord but then do not do what I say? You see, being biblically educated is good, but it is actually useless if we do not put the principles to use in our lives. As James 1:22 says, “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”

One thing I forgot to remind everyone of is that we are having a workday on Monday January 15. That is Men’s prayer day and I am sure that some of the men will begin working as soon as we finish praying which is around 6 am.  I know you might not be up and ready to work that early, so I will just say to come when you can. We will be changing the ceiling tiles in the office complex. Only tools you may need are a measuring tape and a razor knife. I really do not expect this job to take a long time so show up when you can and we will get it done.

If you are planning to attend the Fundamentals of Sunday School workshop this coming Saturday, I will be taking the van. I will leave promptly at 8 am. If you want to drive yourself of course that is fine. I look forward to the encouragement and insight I might gain. I am also very excited at the number of people who have said they are going. This could be a gamechanger for us.

Pray that people will be saved as a result of the ministry of this church.
Pray for His guidance and wisdom.
Pray that we will touch the lives of our community.
Pray that we will Wake Up and put on Christ!

God Bless you all.
Love you and see you Sunday.
