Prayer. It is such an amazing thing. Think about it. It is a human interacting with God. Man talking to God. Man being in the presence of God. This is huge. It is almost incomprehensible. Because prayer allows us to interact with God, it is essential to our relationship with Him.  Without interaction there is no relationship. So, yes that means without prayer there is no relationship. When Jesus taught His disciples and us to pray, He said to start with, “Our Father in heaven…”  He was showing us that the heart of prayer is a relationship with God. 

For us this means that there are no “magic formulas” to prayer.  We often think we have to pray a certain way, use certain language, implement a formula. NO!  The necessary thing in prayer is relationship with the Father.  We talk to Him. He talks to us. We interact together. 

So why is prayer such a struggle?  One reason is a point I made in one of my sermons.  We struggle to pray because it is a reflection that we don’t have much of a relationship with God. Another reason is because in our minds we have made prayer into something it is not.  We think there is a “correct” and a “wrong” way to pray. We think we have to say certain words in a certain format.  None of which is true. We just simply interact with and talk with God. 

Here is an exercise to try. Seriously, if you struggle to pray try this.  Write out your prayer. Write down what you want to say to God. It is perfectly alright. It will give you the opportunity to think about it. You can choose your words. It is still a prayer because it is coming from your heart. Try it. Let me know if it works. 

The most important thing about prayer is that you pray!! That’s it. Don’t settle for a prayerless life. It will be a defeated life. Pray!

Please help us remove the flooring from the education building beginning Monday January 16.  We will be removing the ceramic tile flooring. We will need shovels and wheelbarrows.  Anyone can help. If you can only come for a few hours, then please come for the amount of time you can.  I think we can take care of this reasonably quick. We will certainly appreciate any help that you can give us.

Let’s go into our community with a love for God and a love for the people. Let us pray for them and minister to them in the name of Jesus.
