BK’S KORNER
I want to share a couple of things with you from yesterday’s Worship Service.
First, I want to thank you all for your generosity to Gideons International. You all gave $1,075.00. That is very generous. Thank you. Again, I believe that their mission of distributing scriptures worldwide is a purpose worthy of our gifts.
There were three Gideons present with us yesterday. There was the gentleman who spoke and then there were two other “prayer partners” present as well. After the service as I was talking with them, one of the prayer partners said the following, “We attend a lot of church services. There is something happening here. You can feel it! It is alive!” I was so pleased to hear an outsider/first timer say that about our church. You should be excited and grateful also. Of course, we know that it has nothing to do with us but everything to do with God. In His mercy He has chosen to work in and through us.
You know that over this year I have called us to pray for our church and community. Many of you have taken that to heart. I called us to pray from Numbers 6:24-26. Using that scripture we have been praying a blessing upon our community and our church. Using Isaiah 2:2-3 I called us to pray for God to give this community a hunger for His Word. That people would be drawn to His church and to Him. Did you know that people have just begun showing up to our church services? They are seeking a Bible Study in our Sunday School. We even had first time guests last Wednesday night! I am pointing this out because I do not want you to miss the connection between our prayers and what is happening in our church.
People are just showing up to God’s house with a desire to know Him better. People are approaching others in our church and me with questions that show a hunger for God. Intensify those prayers and let’s see what God has in store for us over the next few weeks, months and years. I am excited and hope you are too.
On a completely different note. Is it flannel shirt season yet? As pastor of The First Baptist Church, I am declaring it so! If you don’t believe me, just stop by the office tomorrow and you will see.
Love you all. May the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. Don’t forget His Word is Alive!!
