BK’S KORNER
My dog is about 6 years old. Suddenly after six years he has decided he doesn’t want to be in my backyard anymore. For six years he has never escaped from my backyard. He has been content to run the yard, chase squirrels and find shelter in my shop. Now that has all changed. For the last week now, every time I go home, there he is on the driveway. The strange thing about it is that as soon as I come home he immediately wants back in the shop. He will run to the door and even whine for me to put him back into his “home”.
I’m thinking if you know that’s where you want to be then why are you escaping? You know your food is there. Your shelter is there. You feel safe there. You are most comfortable and at peace there, so why are you escaping and then wanting me to put you back in?
God revealed to me that spiritually, I’m just like Ol’ Deets. I really want to be close to God. I find peace and comfort there. When I’m near to God is when I am most happy and content. God Provides for me. I find nourishment and shelter in His presence. Yet, I always wander off. Just like the Prodigal Son I aways seem to escape the ranch and go my own way knowing full well I will want to come back home.
I’m always there to bring Ol’ Deets back home. God is always there receiving me back into His presence as well. The question is, why do I ever leave? Why don’t I just stay? I always come back. I should learn to just stay.
Thank you to everyone who came out for our Trunk or Treat. It was a great success. We gave families and option for them and their children. I had one young dad thank me for the fact that our church continues to provide families with a more wholesome environment.
Thank you for all of your help in the Pumpkin Patch this year. It also has been another success. We have had many people come and enjoy it. We have raised a lot of money for missions. I should have the final tally by next week.
Blessings to you all. Let us remember the great love that God showed us by sending His only begotten Son into the world so that we can live through Him.
