BK’S KORNER
Did you ever sleep on a pallet when you were a kid? Sometimes when we had friends or cousins come to stay the night we might sleep on a pallet. Maybe when we were all at grandma and grandpa’s house we had to sleep on pallets because there wasn’t enough beds. Sleeping on pallets certainly isn’t comfortable but as a kid it was something you looked forward to. It generally meant you were with friends or family.
Sleeping on a pallet could also signify safety or comfort. My kids slept on a pallet in our bedroom for many years until they were comfortable enough to sleep in their bedrooms. They felt secure sleeping in our room. They would rather sleep on a pallet in our room than sleep in a bed in their room.
Whenever I think about that I am reminded of Psalm 84:10. The last part of that verse says, “…I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of the wicked.” In other words, the psalmist was saying he would rather be a servant in God’s house than be comfortable in a place far from God. I would say that I would rather sleep uncomfortably on a pallet in God’s house than to be comfortable away from His presence. I want the safety and security that I find in His presence.
His presence fills me with a peace that I cannot find anywhere else. There is a comfort, safety and joy that I find in nothing else in the world. I would rather be on a pallet in God’s presence than to have the most comfortable bed away from Him. So make a pallet in God’s house. Think about that the next time the kids or grandkids want to sleep on a pallet.
We had a great day in the Lord yesterday. The worship was uplifting and fellowship at the dinner was very enjoyable. Thank you to everyone who helped to make that dinner such a success. I am so grateful that we have a church of people who are willing to work. Y’all make so many things happen that just wouldn’t be possible without a lot of help.
Keep pouring over Psalm 34. Continue to allow it to minister to your heart. Be grateful to God during this Thanksgiving season. Keep a testimony in your heart and ready to share. Be always praying for someone who needs to come to know the Lord.
Blessings to all
