BK’S KORNER

Praying is hard.  You heard me correctly.  Praying is difficult. True praying is a spiritual battle.  If you desire to have a strong and effective prayer life then you had better be ready to commit, sacrifice, struggle and wage a spiritual war. You will have to battle for time to spend in prayer. You will have to battle to keep your mind focused on God. You will have to battle to hear from God.

In Romans 15:30 Paul asks the church to “strive” with him in prayer.  In Colossians 2:1 He says that he “struggles” or has a “great conflict” for the people.  In Colossians 4:12 he tells the church that Epaphras is “… always laboring fervently for you in prayers….”  The word that is used, “strive” means to agonize.  It is the same word in Luke 22:44 where it says that Jesus was in agony as He prayed and sweat blood.

Like I said, prayer is difficult.  The question becomes, is it worth it?  Are your family, kids, grandkids, and other loved ones worth the struggle?  Are the things they are going through worth us agonizing in prayer for them?  Is the work of the kingdom worth it to us? Is being in a close and living relationship with God worth it to us?  Are the burdens of our heart enough to cause us to commit to fighting and agonizing in prayer to God?

I say yes.  The God who can raise the dead, do more than we can even dream up, and Who can intervene in and change any situation is worth the fight.  Our faith and relationship with Him is critical to every aspect of our lives.  The power that prayer releases will make my struggle look small. So, yes. It is worth it!

A couple of things.  Please be sure to help our youth with their fund raiser this Sunday evening. Please bring a baked good to auction off. Bring some money to buy a baked good.  We will have a great time. It will be good time to eat dessert, fellowship and support our Youth Ministry all in one shot.  We will be glorifying God through gathering as the church. We will be building that one accord and supporting our students to do the same.

Also, I would like to have a meeting about the Spring Eggstravaganza Sunday Evening as well.  We will meet at 4:30. I do not plan on having a long meeting, I just want to see where we are and see if there is anything that needs to be addressed.  Please come. Meet at 4:30, Youth Bake Auction at 5:30!

I have received very positive feedback on the Sunday School Fellowships.  It is time to schedule your next round.  Note that there will be one time period where you are not scheduled.  Maybe do your own class fellowship during that time!

Love you all!
Blessings to you
Glorifying, Going, Gathering.
