BK’S KORNER
I hope that everyone has a good Spring Break. Many of you will take a little trip during this time. It is good to just get away every now then. Sort of disconnect from the world and all the responsibilities that go with it. You can just put some things behind you and not think about them. It is a great chance to just unwind, relax and get some rest.
You know, I think that was God’s intent for the Sabbath. It was a chance to just forget about the cares of this world for a while. It’s really important because according to Mark 4:19, “the cares of this world” can put us in a spiritual choke hold so that the Word of God doesn’t produce fruit in our lives. We need to be able to put the world and it’s cares in the proper perspective.
The Sabbath not only helped people disconnect from the world, but it also helped them to connect to God. You know, I am convinced that many people recognize their need for God in their lives. I think they instinctively know that God is the answer to much of their hardships. However, they just don’t know how to connect to Him. We know that just going to church doesn’t do it, but certainly (hopefully) they can find the link that connects them there.
Honestly, that is how I see our mission as a church. We just want to help people get connected to God. We know they need Him. I believe that instinctively they know they need Him too, so they are open to it. Of course we know that the connection is Jesus. The link we hold is the gospel of Jesus Christ. That is what we need to get people shackled to. Not to church, positive thinking or any other self help doctrine. We need to connect them to Jesus. If you do nothing else, you can get people to come and I will make sure they hear the gospel.
Y’all have a great week. Make sure you give God some attention while you are unwinding.
Love and Blessings
