BK’S KORNER
My dad had rules when we were growing up. I can remember them all clearly. One rule was, you don’t leave the light on in rooms that you were not in. If you left a room, you turned the light out. Dad better not walk down the hall and see the light in your room on and you not in there! If you left, you turned out the light.
Recently the rule has change, for good reason I might add. My dad now leaves lights on all over the house. The bathroom light stays on. A lamp in the living room and a light in the kitchen all stay on. The reason is that if he wakes up during the night and needs to go the bathroom or to the kitchen for a snack, he needs to be able to see where he is going.
This reminds me of a spiritual truth. We also need to be able to see where we are going spiritually. We need to be able to see what path we are on. We need to be able to see if there is anything that might cause us to trip spiritually.
In John 8:12 Jesus said, “…I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” Then again in John 11:10 He says, “… but if one walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.”
Jesus is saying that He is our spiritual light. To see the path and to recognize the obstacles we must be walking in the light that He gives. As we said yesterday this means we need to stay connected Christ who is the vine. He is also our light.
He will show us the way. He will show us the obstacles. He will keep us on the path. He is our light. Stay close to Him. Stay connected to Him. Leave the light on.
Be sure to come Sunday. It is going to be a great day. Make plans to attend the “A Picture of Calvary” put on by our choir. Celebrate our Christ.
Pray for the Lost.
Pray for your One.
Stay Connected to Jesus.
Leave the Light On.
Blessings to you all
