BK’S KORNER
The biggest bass I ever caught; I didn’t catch. Sounds confusing I know. You see I have a friend who is a very accomplished bass fisherman. It has been years ago now, but he was taking me fishing at the lake. One day we are fishing a spot he liked. We were using the baits he liked. We were casting and working our baits back to the boat. He made a cast and I saw him set the hook out of the corner of my eye.  Then says to me, “Hey BK. Reel this fish in.” I was thinking there is no need for me to do that, but he insisted so I took the rod from his hands. It didn’t take me long to realize that this was not just and average 2-3 lb. bass. I fought the fish and landed it.  As I recall it was about a 6 pound fish. Catching it was exhilarating.  He was so excited for me to catch that fish.  I think he got more joy out of me catching that bass than I did. He may have been smiling more than I was.  He took a picture, had it blown up and framed it for me.

I often wonder why he did that and would I do the same? He has caught many big fish in his life, and he wanted me to have that same experience.  He wanted me to experience the thrill of fighting and landing a large bass. Therefore, when he realized it was a big fish, he handed the rod off to me.

Isn’t that kind of what evangelism should be?  I mean when we have experienced God in such magnificent ways don’t we want those close to us to enjoy the same experiences?  When I have found a peace in difficult circumstances, I want those close to me to have the same experience during hard times. When I consider all the ways that God has worked in my life and how it has affected me I want others to have the same experiences. I want them to experience the same forgiveness, joy, purpose and changed life that I have.  Shouldn’t I want to hand the rod off to someone who has yet to have those experiences? Yes I should.

Ladies, please be involved in the Embrace Grace Baby Shower. This is a great opportunity to show some mothers that the church truly does care about them, their baby and what they are going through.  We are collecting donations for their gifts, but more important is your attendance to their shower and just showing them love.  Please plan to attend.

This coming Sunday is Resurrection Sunday. I am looking forward to a great day in the Lord. Come and celebrate our Risen Savior Together!

Love and Blessings to you all.
He Is Risen!
Who is He?
How has the Cross Affected You?
Pass the rod!
