BK’S KORNER
I don’t like doctors. There, I said it. I also don’t like medicine. The last time I tested positive for COVID I just rode it out and let my body take care of it. It was like a couple of days of the flu. I have recently hurt my knee. I won’t go to the doctor because I don’t want him to check my blood pressure because, well, I’m sure you can guess. Therefore, I useD google and self-diagnosed myself. Seems I may have injured my patellar tendon. Looks like taking it easy on that knee is the answer. Anyhow, I hope so. I really don’t want to see a doctor.
You know, we can self-diagnose our spiritual sicknesses and maladies. We can because we have the Word of God. 2 Timothy 3:16 says, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,”
My focus for this point is the phrases “for reproof” and “for correction”. Paul tells Timothy that the inspired Word of God is useful to us for several things. One of which is reproof, or to show us where we are wrong. God’s Words shows me my spiritual maladies. It shows me where I am not as healthy spiritually as I should be. It tells me where my spiritual faults are.
It also tells me how to get well. That is the idea behind the word also being useful for correction. Not only does it show us our faults, but it also shows us the right way. The Word tells us what we need to do in order to heal properly. We should use the Word of God for spiritual self-diagnosis and for self-medication. The Word of God is useful to us in this area.
That is the reason it is important for you to take God’s Word into your life on a very regular basis. Let God and His Word be our spiritual doctor and remedy.
Yesterday was a great day to be in God’s house. It sure is nice seeing the sanctuary full. What we had yesterday should be just a normal Sunday for this church. I think we should pray toward that end.
Have a great week.
Spring is here! Enjoy it!
He is Risen!
Blessings to you all.
