BK’S KORNER
Some of you may remember that a year or two ago a little kitty adopted us as his family. He has turned into such a sweet cat. He follows me around like a dog would. If I’m outside, he is right there where I am. If I sit somewhere he is in my lap. He talks all the time. Seriously. It is not a “meow” or a “purr”. It is more that sound a cat makes that sounds like they are “rolling their R’s”. He starts talking the minute he comes in the house or the moment we come home from work.
Per cat standards he is a small sized cat. He is now a grown male. He likes to prowl. He usually goes outside when the sun goes down and he’s ready to come back in when we wake up. As a male cat that goes outside, he gets into a lot of fights. Last week seems to have been particularly rough for him. His face is all scared up. Ears are scratched. Eyes cut. Actually, when he sits in my lap and I pet him I can feel the scabs all over his head and face.
As I pet him yesterday I was reminded of a phrase from a verse in the Bible. In Psalm 23:5 there is a phrase that says, “You anoint my head with oil.” You see, as sheep graze they may get too close to cactus, bull nettles or other thorny plants. They often bump into rockS and get cuts and bruises on their head and face. Periodically the shepherd would check the face and head of the sheep and apply oil as medicine to all the cuts, scrapes and bruises. The Psalm is about how God is our Shepherd so the correlation is plain. As we have been saying we are in a spiritual battle in this life. We get wounded. Life has a way of bruising and cutting us. Our Shepherd however applies the salve or oil that heals our injuries. He checks us often for injuries and brings the healing we need. I am so glad that “The Lord is my Shepherd….”
Many of you have been praying for Starla Darby and the birth of her twin girls. They were born early. They are both well but with some problems as we knew beforehand. We want to collect some diapers for Starla and her girls. We are trying to get them by April 16. There was a list in your Sunday School room. If you missed it, I would just say to bring some newborn diapers. The girls will be small and there will be two of them so I am certain they will be used. Diapers and Baby wipes. That is all we are collecting.
Some of you know that I keep a small amount of nonperishable food in my office. I give it out as the need arises and the Ministerial Alliance is unavailable for help. There is a young lady and three children that I have been helping lately. So I am in need of a little more food. Nonperishable. If you feel like bringing some, please feel free to do so.
Finally, I cannot thank you all enough for all the help in making our Spring Egg-Stravaganza a huge success. Thank you! Thank you!
Have a great week. He is Risen!
