BK’S KORNER
Koinonia. That is the Greek word that is translated fellowship in the Bible. It carries a much deeper meaning than just getting together and sharing pie. It contains the idea of intimacy. Sharing. A close relationship. You can see that koinonia is essential for the health of a church body. We need to be connected with a much stronger connection than just the recognition of a face. We need to know each other on a deeper level. We need to share with each other. We need to fellowship together.
As a result, I hope that you have or will make your Sunday School department fellowships a priority. A healthy church will have this kind of biblical fellowship. This koinonia is the purpose behind me initiating these fellowships. I hope that we will begin to know each other and as a result draw closer. As we draw closer, we will begin to care and pray for each other. Koinonia will then begin to build. Your next round of Sunday School fellowships is scheduled for May/June. Please check your schedule and make the contacts to plan a fellowship. Please note that there will be one period where your department will not be paired up for a fellowship. You could possibly do your own class fellowship during that time.
Yesterday I joined with Adult 1 as they had a fellowship. After church we went to Sea Rim State Park and spent the afternoon there. It was great to watch the kids playing in the sand and the water.
I want to reiterate something I said a couple of weeks ago. In order to move forward as a church we must begin to intercede for the lost in our community. We cannot argue, convince, or make anyone respond to the gospel. Only God can do that. In John 6:44 Jesus says, “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him…” Therefore, it is imperative that we pray for the lost. Only God can cause people to respond to Him. We need God to do this work. We must rely upon Him. So let us pray. Intercede. Never stop. Then expect God to glorify Himself by drawing people.
Begin by interceding for your One!
Blessings to you all.
