BK’S KORNER
I know that I have been talking a lot about prayer recently. I write about it in my articles. My daily videos talk about it. I always find a way to work it into my sermons. The reason I think is simple. First of all, I am convinced that prayer is the one discipline that can change our lives, our families, our community and our church like no other can. Also, the reason is because that is where God is working in my own personal spiritual life.
In all seriousness, why is prayer such a difficult discipline to make a habit in our lives? I think there are serval factors that could play a role in that:
The first and most important factor is that we are not really concerned about spiritual things. We are more concerned about thet things of the world than we are about the things that pertain to the kingdom of God.
Another factor is that we have so many resources and blessings in our lives that we really do not often feel like we face situations that are beyond our control. In other words, we don’t often feel like we really need God to intervene in our lives.
We might also not be convinced that God wants to step into our lives. Are we convinced that God genuinely desires to hear our prayers?
We are also afraid that we don’t know how to pray. We think that talking to God is difficult. Like we need to know some kind of foreign language in order for God to understand us.
How about the fact that our lives are so busy that we really do not have time to just sit and pray. In all seriousness …. You have/make time for everything that is really important to you.
So what is the answer? Do you really want to know? I’m afraid you may not like the answer. The answer to overcoming all of these factors that keep us from praying is …. Pray. That’s right. Just pray. Stop right now and pray. Next time you open Facebook on your phone, just pray instead. The next time you think of your family, pray. Just Pray. Pray without ceasing. Pray always with all prayers being watchful. Pray.
Blessings to you all.
Pray for Your One.
Who’s Your One?
Pray to Glorify, Go and Gather.
