BK's Korner
I think I had the perfect cup of diner/café coffee this past weekend. Yes, I did clarify that it was diner/café coffee.  I don’t know why. Maybe it took me back to the café grandpa used to go to for coffee. I’m not sure, but I do know that when I think of having a cup of coffee in a diner or café this cup of coffee was one of the best. As soon as the waitress set it on the table, I could tell by just the look and the smell that it was going to be excellent. I began to look to see how they were making it. Obviously, they had a system. The large coffee maker was probably like any other restaurant. I think the secret was in the actual coffee itself.  They had this big clear container like a large gumball machine.  This container held coffee beans.  They would take the filter and place it under the coffee beans and press a button.  It would then grind the very precise amount of beans that needed to be ground for that pot of coffee. Even before that, to have the perfect cup of coffee you also had to have the perfect coffee bean. The perfect roast and the perfect blend. Then you grind the perfect amount of beans and voila! The perfect cup of coffee.

I then began to think about when the Bible refers to the perfection of man, and everything that goes in to making him perfect. Obviously that perfection comes only through Christ.  Only when we grow in our relationship and knowledge of Him do we move towards that perfection. It is God working through His spirit that He molds and shapes us into that perfect man. Both Ephesians 4:13 and Colossians 1:28 say this. James 1:2-4 might be the most well known scripture that talks about man coming to perfection. It states, “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”

Can you see in that verse what makes the perfect blend, perfect roast and perfect bean? It is trials and the testing of our faith. When we go through difficulties that require us to persevere in our faith and commitment, then we are being made perfect. In short, we are made perfect through suffering and difficulties. Probably wasn’t what you like hearing but it is biblical. So, when you’re having that next cup of coffee be reminded that God is using all the situations that we are going through to make us perfect.

Pray for your family, friends, and neighbors.
Pray for your One.
Get a One to pray for.
Pray for God to bring salvation to the lost.
Pray for the sick.
Pray that we will keep pushing forward.
Be thankful.

Blessings to you,
