K’S KORNER
Over the last six weeks or so I have been intentionally and deliberately trying to grow closer to God through a season of prayer and fasting.  God is showing and teaching me many things.  He is teaching me about self-discipline, about how critical my relationship with Him is. He is teaching me about spiritual warfare and the importance of His word in my life.  In fact, I have begun memorizing scripture again. It is difficult at my age but I am finding joy and strength in it. He is truly teaching me truth of His Word that, “man does not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.” 

The other day I was reflecting on our church and the time when God called me into ministry. In the mid 1980’s when God began to call me into pastoral ministry, He gave me a real love for His church.  I have always loved God’s local church body. It has always had a special place in my heart.  When I came to be your pastor 4 years ago, I had a love for this church out of that gift that God placed inside of me.  Now however, that love has become more personal. I truly love my church family here at The First Baptist Church. I love the way you support me, encourage me, lift me up, help me, and love my family. I love the way you respect me as your pastor.

I pray for you all every day.  I pray that God will draw you deeper into a relationship with Him.  I pray that you will desire Him and hunger for His word.  I know that my Father hears my prayers and that He is answering.

As you are reading this, I am somewhere in the Caribbean. I know you are not surprised by that. I will return recharged and ready for the summer ministry. I will be back in the pulpit next Sunday. Then on Tuesday Cheryl and I will go to Houston for her surgery on Wednesday. Please keep her in your prayers. 

God is going to use us in a great way here in our community. You don’t want to be sitting on the sidelines.  You will want to be in the game experiencing God and His work.

Continue Glorifying God by Going and Gathering for the purpose of Growing.
