BK’S KORNER
I’m Baaaaaack! It was good to be back in “my spot” yesterday. Back with my church family doing what I am called to do – proclaiming the Word of God. Vacation was wonderful. Now to just get the next couple of weeks of surgery for Cheryl and VBS behind me.  Then it is on to pumpkins … that’s right … The Pumpkins are coming. 

Please begin to pray for VBS.  Pray that children’s hearts will receive the seed of the gospel. Pray that the seed will eventually take root, grow and produce fruit. 

This coming weekend will be the weekend that everyone will be celebrating America’s Independence. Our freedom. We have lived with and enjoyed the privileges of personal freedom since we became a nation. Those freedoms have been tremendous blessings on our lives. 

Do not forget that there is another freedom that we have spiritually. You see Christ has set us free from the power and penalty of sin on our lives.  This freedom too is a blessing. In fact, I would argue that this freedom is more life changing than our national freedom. The freedom that Christ gives us is eternal and can never be taken away. 

National freedom could, (theoretically) possibly disappear depending on who is in power and the values of the people in our nation. The freedom that Christ gives us can never be taken away. God will always be the One in power and it is not based on how we feel at any particular time. It is secure in Christ. 

So, celebrate and enjoy the freedoms that we have as a nation. Also, celebrate and enjoy the freedoms that we have as Children of God. Take hold of those spiritual blessings that our spiritual freedom brings and live your Christian life to its fullest. 

Keep on doing what you know God wants you to. Do not lose heart because He will do what He has promised if we stay the course.
