BK’S KORNER
As you know by now, Cheryl and I slipped away for a little vacation this week. Yes, we went on another cruise. This time we left Boston last Friday. We went to Bermuda and are spending 3 days there and then will head to Bar Harbor, Maine. We will arrive back in Boston and fly home on Friday, June 7.
It never ceases to amaze me how big those cruise ships look from the dock. They simply look massive. I need to get a close look at an aircraft carrier some someday. Just think, that enormous ship is actually steered by a rudder(s) that are miniscule in comparison to the size of the ship. That little bitty rudder determines what direction a large ship will travel.
Reminds me of James 3:4-5. “Look also at ships: although they are so large and driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot decides. Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles!”
That verse basically says that our tongues are such a small body part and yet they have a gigantic impact on the direction of our lives. They can start great fires. Our words can lift up or they can tear down. We can praise and encourage, or we can speak hurtfully out of anger. We can pronounce blessing or cursing. We can speak from grace and love or from envy and hate. What a powerful tool our tongues are. The words we use affect relationships which in turn can direct our lives. The old adage of think before you speak is valid. Only a wise and self-controlled person controls their tongue. We would do well work on it
Hope yall have a great week. I will be back on Sunday and I will be expecting to see you. I wonder what mountain we will climb on Sunday and what we will find when we get there!
Pray for the sick.
Pray for our community.
Invite someone to come sit by you.
Pray for your one.
Think before you speak.
Love you all
