BK’S KORNER
I said yesterday from the pulpit that in my life I have never really been very nostalgic or sentimental.  However, I also  confessed that the older I get, the more nostalgic/sentimental I seem to become. It seems that the older I get there are things that I hear or see that trigger something and it takes me back to a childhood memory.  It happened not too long ago.

I was going from the church office into the sanctuary building. There on the side of the building was a huge “yellow” grasshopper.  I call them yellow grasshoppers because, well, they’re yellow in color.  They are also extremely big.  Did you know these grasshoppers are great fish bait?  I really haven’t seen that many here in SE Texas, but boy did I see them in central Texas.  We used to walk fields and catch them by the handful.  We had a special cage my uncle had made that would hold them.  I can still hear the sound that their wings made when they flew away as you walked through the pasture. We used them on trot lines and on fishing poles. It didn’t matter, they worked tremendously as fish bait. It is truly a fond memory.  Really I just wanted to slap  my hand over that grasshopper and catch him just for old times sake.

I am sure you all have the same kind of thing happen to you, where you may hear or see something and it takes you back to a childhood memory.  My question is this.  Are we ever triggered to a “spiritual” memory.  Do we ever hear or see something that takes us back to a memory about a time when God spoke to us or did a wonderful work in our lives? In order to go back to a spiritual memory we have to have spiritual incidents in our lives to remember.

Start looking for how God is working in your life.  When you pray, watch for the answer regardless of how long it takes. Just watch and see what God does.  Remember those times in your life when God works.  Recall them often. You can do this by thanking Him for them.  Make memories with God that He can take you back to so that you can find encouragement and strength.

Love you all. Blessings to you.
Now get out there and Faith the Week
