BK’S KORNER
Why is praying so difficult? There are some very real reasons that I think we find praying difficult. Here are just a few.

Reason number one. “I don’t know how to pray.”  This is legitimate. Let’s just get it out there. People genuinely feel like they don’t know how to pray. How can you learn to pray?  You can learn by listening to others.  Go to prayer meetings and listen to others pray. You can kind of get a feel for how other people pray. Also, understand what Jesus says in Matthew 6:7. He says that we are not heard because we repeat meaningless words. We are heard because we share our hearts with God. So just let your heart lead you in praying. Simply tell God what is on your heart and mind.

Another reason is “unbelief”. Seriously. Unbelief. Now, I am not saying that you do not believe that God is capable of answering your prayer. I think we all believe in God’s unlimited power and He is capable of accomplishing anything.  I think our “belief” comes in to play in that I am not sure God is going to intervene in my situation. I am not certain that God wants to answer my prayer. Read Matthew 7:7-12.  In those verses Jesus tells us to ask. Just ask.  He says that if our earthly fathers know how to bless us, how much more does our Heavenly Father desire to bless us.

My last reason to share with you in this article is that we really do not see the value in spending time with God.  This one is hard. I know it is. However, it is truth.  If we really saw the value in spending time with God, then we would do it.  We all have the time for the things that are really important to us.

Therefore, let me share one final verse with you that I think you should memorize.  You should keep it forefront in your mind and recall it every time you think about praying. The very last phrase in Hebrews 11:6 says, “(God) is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Did you catch that? Let me repeat it. God is a REWARDER of those who diligently seek Him.  God will answer your prayers. He has promised to reward you. Time spent with Him is not wasted time. In fact, it may be the most important time of your entire day.

So Pray. Start today. Make it a priority of your life.
Pray for our church.
Pray for our community.
Pray for your One.
Glorify God in your praying. Go, Gather and Grow.

Blessings to you all.
