BK’S KORNER
Years ago my family and friends used to make an annual trip to the Frio River for summer vacation. There were several families, and we would rent a house together and go relax. We would spend our days just sitting in a tube meandering down the river.
One year however it had been raining. The river was not crystal clear and slow moving. It was a raging torrent. The water was high, hiding dangerous rocks and small falls. It was now a swift and dangerous current. A friend of mine and I decided we were going to throw caution to the wind and tube down the river anyhow. This wasn’t one of the smartest decisions I’ve ever made.
Sometimes we live for the thrill. The truth is that tubing that river at that time was extremely dangerous. However, we were willing to take that risk. I must say it was exhilarating.
You know, faith is like that. True faith must be willing to take a risk. However, keep in mind you are banking on God. Abraham had to pack up his family and move. Moses had to march into Pharaoh’s palace and say, “Let my people go.” Noah had to build a boat. Gideon had to send most of his army home before going to battle. David had to go out on the battlefield with just a sling shot. The blind man had to go wash his face in the water. Peter had to step out of the boat. In short, every great moment of faith required someone to take a risk! But the results were amazing! God did amazing things. One question, is it really a risk if you’re dependent upon God. Think about it. Remember, faith is one of your super powers.
It is that time of year where things really seem to pick up speed. We have Pumpkins, Fall Festival, Thanksgiving and then Christmas. At the same time we are going to begin to emphasize inviting people to come and join us to grow and seek the Lord together.
We had Breakfast of Champions last Friday and it was a huge success once again. I want to thank everyone who helped to make it happen! Y’all are the best and it was a great blessing to students and faculty alike. So Thank You!
Continue to pray for our church and its ministries. Pray for the community that God would make them hungry for Him. Pray for people to be saved.
Pray for your One.
Invite someone to come sit by you.
Pumpkins arrive September 28 at 9 am.
Use your Super Powers this week!
Love and Blessings to you all.
