BK’S KORNER
For me, it’s a diet killer. You all have heard me lament about my weight. The problem is, I know how to lose weight.  I’ve done it several times in my life. I just make choices that prevent me from losing weight. There is one main thing that I just can’t seem to quit and it opens the door for other things.

Obviously refined sugar is the problem for most of us.  Many who know me may think my diet kryptonite is chocolate.  While I do love chocolate, that’s not it. It’s something else.  I am always aware of it.  It happens in restaurants mostly. I even tell myself that I’m not going to do it, but the words just come out of my mouth.  It’s as though I have no control. The waiter is standing there. I don’t want to say it. I intend to say something else. Instead, I say “I’ll have sweet tea please.” Yep. Sweet tea. I can’t seem to say no and then it just opens the door to me having anything I want with sugar.

I am reminded of the verse in Galatians 5:9. It says, “A little leaven leavens the whole lump.”  You put just a little bit of leaven in a lump of dough, and it will spread throughout the whole thing. It affects the entire lump.  That is the way sin works in our lives.  We don’t want to do it. We don’t intend to do it.  We are planning not to do it. However, somehow when the time comes, we just do it. Then it opens the floodgates, and we just seem to throw caution to the wind.

We are going to start having to practice some self-control.  I think maybe some fasting will help me in that regard. How about you? What is your killer. Not of your diet but of your walk with God. What sin seems to get you and how do you intend to overcome it?

Be sure to consider a gift to the Reach Texas Offering that we are taking this month. 100% of what you give will be used for ministry in the state of Texas.

Invite someone to church.  Take the next step with your One and invite them to come sit by you. Invite them to Come Grow With Us. We will work on our relationship with God together.

Yesterday was a great day to be in God’s House. The Spirit was there and we were blessed.

Love and Blessings to all of you,
