Piercing the Darkness
John 12:44-50
In continuing our series “The Walking Impossible” last Sunday, we saw Jesus’ response to John’s noting the blindness of the religious leaders and Jews of that day. Jesus dissolves the delusion that one can love God while rejecting Him. Jesus declares that while they judge Him, He has not come to judge them. He has “not come to judge the world, but to save the world.” (John 12:47) He does not need to judge them because they are already under judgement. Darkness abounds in them presently and Jesus has come to offer them Light. They already are under judgement by failing to acknowledge the sin within. Jesus has come to “pierce the darkness” within, but they instead desire to remain in the darkness. We are no different than the people of that day. We are presently under judgement and in need of a savior. This fact alone infuriates us, much like them, because we want to save ourselves. We sit in darkness claiming we are the “light” but still cannot see. The Light has come so we may see and never live in darkness again. Are you ready to live the “impossible?” Step into the Light.
