Faithfulness for the Soul, Psalm 117
Sunday morning we continue our sermon series through the Psalms, “Songs for the Soul.” In Psalm 117 we witness the writer avoid “beating around the bush” and just “cut to the chase.” Sometimes brevity is refreshing and helps one concentrate on what is most important. The whole psalm is composed of two lines. “Praise the LORD, all nations! Extol him, all peoples! For great is his steadfast love toward us, and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever. Praise the Lord.” (V. 1-2) Every verse in Scripture from “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1) to “The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen.” Revelation 22:21) and every verse in between is meant to declare the truth of God’s steadfast love and faithfulness. Today is the perfect time to stop and join in with the writer of the psalm declaring this truth over the whole of your life. Got praise? Got gratitude? Give God the glory He richly deserves.
