Having Your Cake and Eating It Too
Sunday we continued with the “Tell Me a Story” sermon series with Jesus’ parable of the Wedding Feast. The king through a grand spectacle of a party to celebrate his son’s wedding. The servants traveled far and wide inviting people to attend the royal feast. However, the people paid no attention to the invitation choosing instead to stay home, go to work, and others even attacked the servants. The king revoked his grace and acted in his righteous wrath to bring justice on the ones who scorned him and attacked his servants. In return, he sent servants to go and find the least deserving and invite them into the feast. When the king came, he found one who had entered the festivities without the proper attire, disrespecting the king and ignoring his requirements for attendance. The king had him removed and punished for in insolence. God has a standard which cannot be ignored. We must be clothed in righteousness to enter into the royal feast, but we are marred with sin. Our only hope is the righteousness of Jesus, his death, burial, and resurrection is our invitation when we surrender to him. How are you clothed? Have you surrendered?
