Majesty for the Soul

Sunday morning we continued our sermon series through the Psalms by looking at Psalms 8. The writer, David, breaks out in songs of praise to a God he adores and stands in awe before. He notes the magnificent nature of the Lord and the immensity of his power. David considers the grandeur of creation and the glory it all displays. However, the point that confounds David the most is that God pays any attention to humanity, the rebellious and treason creatures. Despite the failing of mankind and the fullness of sin we all possess, God loves and cares for every person. He has set his heart in pursuit of every one and has provided the means to redeem them all from their treachery. There was no doubt of this truth for David, and even more so for us as we can look back in real time and history marking the sacrifice of Jesus, God’s son. “O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!” (Psalms 8:1) For those who have experienced the greatness of God’s love, the only response is to sing his praises.
