BK’S KORNER
I can remember as a kid my father always telling me to “pick up my feet.” I really had no idea what he was talking about. I mean, I was walking wasn’t I? That means I’m picking up my feet. So I thought. Fast forward to adulthood. I stumble a lot. I can stumble when the surface I am walking on has a very slight incline. I can trip on the slightest change in slope. I have also noticed lately that, well, I don’t pick up my feet. I now know what my dad was trying to tell me. I wish I had listened to Him. It’s so hard to break the habit of how I walk now at 63 years old.
Reminds me of some biblical proverbs. Proverbs 4:1 tells us to apply the guidance our father gives us to our lives. Proverbs 13:1 says that the son who listens to his father is wise. Proverbs 15:5 says that only a fool gives no thought to his father’s instruction. Honestly, I wish I had listened to my father about a lot of things. I could have saved myself a lot of heartache. The older I get the smarter my father gets! Listen to your fathers. You will be glad you did.
Last night’s first session of Prophecy 101 was very intriguing. Mark does a thorough job of researching his lessons. He educates, inspires and makes you think. You should give it a try. Class meets on Sunday evenings at 6 pm. You’ll be glad you came.
I will begin my new Wednesday evening series this coming Wednesday. The series is called, “All I Really Need to Know….” This series will cover what I consider the essential truths that every Christian needs to have a grasp of. I think/hope you will enjoy it.
We are starting a new year. I am going to pick up my feet and not stumble as I lead us forward. We will manage any change in slope. We will keep moving. Continue praying. Continue ministering. We will also keep on expecting and watching for God to do something in our church. I think we are right there. Right on the edge. Something good is about happen and any day could be the day. I’m just watching!
